    Challenges to physiological homeostasis.

“Modern Medicine sometimes forgets that technology is not a replacement for the body’s innate ability to heal itself” 1

Two Basic Principles In Natural Health

    1. Feeding and Nourishing the Body
    2. Cleansing and Removing Toxins from the Body

Chemical Exposures Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (2)

Plasticizers (TMA, Trimellic anhydride): Complex antigens impacting the immune system
    Dry cleaning fluids: Cardio toxins
    Solvents: Panic disorders
    Hydrocarbons: Glomerulonephritis
    Formaldehyde: Fatigue and cancer
Pesticides: Brain fog (loss of concentration, poor memory, irritability and depression)

    Food Induced Disease (3,4,5)

    Celiac disease: Wheat intolerance (gluten).
    Retinal degeneration: MSG (monosodium glutamate).
    Milk: Hypochlorhydria, rBGH.
Inappropriate combination of protein, carbohydrates and sugars: Fermentation of carbs and putrefaction of proteins.

    Drug Induced Nutrient Depletion (6,7)

Antacids deplete the body of calcium and phosphorous
Sodium bicarbonate depletes the body of potassium
Antibiotics depletes the body of good bacteria, vitamin B and vitamin K
Isoniazid depletes the body of vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) and vitamin D
Anticonvulsants deplete the body of Vitamins D & K, calcium and folic acid
Antidiabetics deplete the body of Coenzyme Q10
Anti-inflammatory drugs deplete the body of Vitamin C, folic acid, iron, potassium and sodium
NSAIDs deplete the body of folic acid, also cause CICs (auto-immune)
Corticosteroids deplete Vitamins C&D, calcium, potassium, zinc
Antiviral deplete carnitine, Vitamin B12, zinc and copper
Bronchodilators deplete the body of pyridoxine
Cardiovascular drugs deplete pyridoxine and Coenzyme Q10
Loop diuretics deplete calcium, magnesium, B1, B6, potassium and Vitamin C
ACE Inhibitors deplete the body of zinc
Centrally acting antihypertensive deplete Coenzyme Q10 and zinc
Cardiac glycosides deplete calcium, magnesium, phosphorous and B1
    Beta Blockers deplete Coenzyme Q10
Cholesterol lowering drugs deplete Coenzyme Q10
    Electrolyte replacement depletes B12
Bile acid suppressants deplete Vitamins A,E,K, D as well as iron, calcium, magnesium, phosphorous and zinc
Female hormones deplete folic acid, B6, B12, B2, magnesium, zinc and Vitamin C
Estrogen replacement therapy depletes magnesium, zinc, and vitamin B6
Gout medications deplete sodium, potassium, B12 and beta carotene
Laxatives deplete Vitamins A, D, E, calcium, beta carotene potassium
Psychotherapeutics deplete B2 and Coenzyme Q10
Ulcer medications H-2 receptor antagonists deplete B12, folic acid, Vitamin D, calcium, iron, zinc
    Proton Pump inhibitors deplete B12

All of your body systems must be functioning properly to achieve optimal health.
“There are no fences in your body” [Dr. Sheryl Duchess, N.D.]8 When you compromise any body system you interfere with physiological function, compromising how you feel and in turn compromising your health.

    What Creates Health (9)

Radiant health comes when we are happy and living in balance in body, mind and spirit. We get adequate rest, sunshine, exercise, water and whole natural food. We breathe properly from deep down in our abdomens, gently and regularly. We sleep well at night. We allow ourselves to give and receive love. We love ourselves in every way. We wear clothes made of natural fibers that bring us joy and interact with people who mirror love back to us. We take time alone. We feel peaceful and balanced inside. Silence is a great healer. We take time in nature with Mother Earth. We have abundance, doing the work we love to do.

Homeostasis is altered when the body’s pH is impacted by acid forming foods. pH is a symbol for the degree of acidity or alkalinity in a solution. pH stands for “particles of Hydrogen” or “power of Hydrogen”. The maintenance of a stable hydrogen ion concentration in the body fluids is essential to life. Any substance with a pH lower than 7.0 is considered acidic, while a pH above 7.0 is considered alkaline. Ideal pH for the human body is between 6.8 and 7.2. Therefore, a pH above 7.2 is considered alkaline and lower than 6.8 is considered acidic. Alkaline forming foods include: fruits, vegetables, Brazil nuts, coconut and almonds, soy products, lima beans, sprouted grains and seeds, honey, maple syrup and raisins.

Acid forming foods include: a high protein diet (70-80% protein; 20-30% carbs), high levels of stress, highly processed foods (containing preservatives), and high amounts of sugar in your diet.10
