Last week we discussed how Communication is Key for Fitness Business Owners. This week we dive into four more Characteristics of Personal Training Entrepreneurs. In order for a fitness business to be successful you need a vision that is grounded in reality. These four do just that.

    A Dreamer

Every entrepreneur has a dream or a vision of what they want to accomplish. In order for any entrepreneurial feat to be taken up, you need to have a dream. It can’t be just wanting more money or being your own boss. There needs to be some sort of bigger purpose involved. You can create high expectations and big ideas when you are a dreamer.

    Independent

Successful entrepreneurs need to be independent. You need to be a person who is efficient and productive without anyone above you. No one is going to want to pursue your dream more than you. You need to be the one making things happen. This can be a difficult thing to master since we are so dependent on others. It is a fine line of working well with others and being independent.

    Decisive

In owning your own business, you need to be quick on your feet. Ten different things will be happening at once and you can’t dawdle around waiting for someone to make a decision. YOU need to be the decision maker. And you need to be confident in the decisions you make. Others will follow your lead, so if you are not confident, others will not be confident in you (this doesn’t mean you can’t admit when you were wrong in making a bad decision mind you).

    A Thinker

This one goes hand-in-hand with being a dreamer. Dreaming represents the “what” and being a thinker represents the “how”. You need to be a thinker for your dream to amount to anything and so your dreams don’t get out of control. It forces you to ask the hard questions of “how” and to “get all of your ducks in a row”. Being a thinker helps you be prepared for the best and the worst. In order for your vision to be manifested in the most realistic way, you need to be a thinker.

Next week we will be going over the last five characteristics of our list. In my opinion, these last five are some of the most important. What do you think are the most important ones?
