How long does it take to get certified?
Most NFPT trainers complete their certification in 8–12 weeks, but you’ll have one full year to study and take the exam. Learn at your own pace — no deadlines, no pressure.
Where can I take the NFPT exam?
You can choose between in-home testing or an authorized test center. Both options are flexible, secure, and give you instant results once you finish.
Is NFPT certification recognized by gyms?
Yes — NFPT is NCCA-accredited, which is the gold standard for professional fitness credentials. Your certification is recognized by gyms, studios, and employers nationwide.
What makes NFPT different from other certifications?
NFPT is affordable, straightforward, and human. You’ll get all your materials upfront, free continuing education for life, and real support from fitness professionals — not corporate call centers.
Can I get certified using Military or GI Bill® benefits?
Absolutely. NFPT is approved for Military and GI Bill® funding, making it easier for active service members and veterans to launch their fitness careers.
How often do I need to renew my certification?
NFPT requires renewal every year to keep your credential active and maintain NCCA accreditation standards. Annual renewal ensures trainers stay current with best practices, safety standards, and continuing education.
What do I need to complete in order to renew?
You’ll need 2.0 CECs (Continuing Education Credits), which can be earned through NFPT CEU courses, approved outside providers, or the free self-tests available inside your NFPT Account. Once your credits are completed, you can submit renewal online.
What if my certification has expired?
If your certification lapses, you may still be eligible for renewal depending on how long it has been expired. NFPT offers grace-period options and guidance to help you get reinstated without having to retake the full CPT exam.
How much does recertification cost?
NFPT offers one of the lowest-cost renewals in the industry, with transparent pricing and no hidden fees. You’ll never be charged for unnecessary subscriptions or forced add-ons.
Do I need to submit proof of my continuing education?
Yes. You’ll upload documentation of your completed CECs directly through your NFPT Account. If you completed courses through NFPT, your credits are automatically added and require no extra steps.
How long do I have to prepare for the exam?
You have one full year from the date of purchase to take your exam. Most NFPT candidates prepare in 6–12 weeks, but you can move faster or slower based on your schedule. Your study guides, quizzes, and prep tools are available immediately inside your NFPT Account.
Where can I take the exam?
NFPT offers two flexible testing options:
- In-person testing at partnered test centers nationwide
- Secure at-home online testing, available on your schedule Both options provide the same NCCA-accredited exam with identical standards.
What happens after I pass the exam?
You receive your instant exam results immediately after finishing. Within 1–2 business days, you’ll get your digital certificate, followed by your printed certificate (US & Canada) in about 7–10 days. You’ll gain access to member benefits, free CEUs, and tools to help you start training clients.
Can I retake the exam if needed?
Yes. If you don’t pass on the first attempt, you can retake the exam. Retake fees are significantly lower than most competitors, and you’ll keep access to all your study content so you can prepare confidently for your next attempt.
How will I receive my certification?
Your digital CPT certificate is emailed to you shortly after passing. NFPT also mails a professional printed certificate for your portfolio, gym applications, or client marketing. Both include your official NCCA-accredited CPT designation.
